Banana
Tree Grille Reviews
My
(then girlfriend) and I visited St.Thomas for the first time last year.
We went for 5 days and 4 nights. On the first night, we decided to eat at
Banana Tree Grille. That was IT! We ate nowhere else. The Food was
exquisite, the service was second to none, the staff (ask for Patti) was
incredible and provided an incredible atmosphere and total dining
experience.
The view/atmosphere/ambiance was so perfect that I decided to "pop the
question" at the Grille on our last evening there. Happily, my
"then-girlfriend"... now Fiancée, and I, are eagerly awaiting our
return to
the island AND the Grille this May (4 weeks from now!).
Personal suggestions: For her... Sesame Seared Tuna. For me, either the New
York Strip Gaetano OR Nonna's Sunday Dinner Braciola. Either selection (or
anything else they serve for that matter) will be delicious and memorable.

My
wife and I had dinner at The Banana Tree Grille on our last night in St
Thomas in July 2002 and although the food tasted fine at the time ( my
wife had Zuppa de Cozze -Bianco followed by Coconut Tempura Shrimp and I
had the Bruschetta Trio followed by Pollo Scarpariella and we shared the
Godiva Chocolate Brownies for dessert) we were both violently ill within
an hour of leaving the restaurant.
We had chosen
this particular restaurant on the recommendation of several people we
met during our stay on the island and we had hoped to have a wonderful
evening and a memorable end to our vacation but instead it became
memorable for all the wrong reasons.
On our return
home we contacted the restaurant by e-mail and informed them of the food
poisoning incident but as yet we have not even received a reply. So I
would advise anyone who is possibly thinking of visiting this restaurant
- DON'T IT'S NOT WORTH THE CHANCE OF MAKING YOURSELVES ILL. If you want
a really good dining experience go to Craig and Sally's - their food was
fantastic. According to the locals they have the best food on the
island.
