Creating what may be a new category of accommodations for Caribbean visitors, The Deep Blue View has opened on the island of Bonaire as a Bed and Breakfast Resort. Catering mostly to scuba divers, snorkelers, free divers, kayakers and other aquatic enthusiasts, The Deep Blue View is a luxury Bed and Breakfast with only four guestrooms. The Deep Blue View is a large, luxury villa with two very distinct sections. The four spacious guestrooms, with baths, are on one side of the property and the owners living quarters on the other. They are separated by a tropical patio with large swimming pool where healthy, gourmet breakfasts are served each morning and guests can relax in privacy any time. The large patio area also features a second story sunbathing deck with lots of shaded hammocks hung below it so guests can recover from all the ocean activities the island has to offer.

The Deep Blue View is named so because of the 180-degree ocean view from the villa. It has a second meaning for all those avid stargazers. At night the sunbathing deck becomes an observation deck for viewing the star studded night skies just 12° off the equator. On most clear nights, the hosts bring out their 8" Meade telescope so guests can get a deeper view of the incredible variety of stars, nebulae and galaxies. Guest rooms at the Deep Blue View all have air conditioning, but also have high ceilings with fans for those who prefer a more natural, tropical environment without air-conditioning. The villa is recently built in a modern hacienda style with crisp white walls and Italian tile floors. Furnishings are simple but cozy and friendly, with specially made wood bed frames, headboards and night tables featuring a "louvered" design. Guests have a choice of either king or twin-sized beds. Lots of expert underwater photography and local art adorns the walls. There is even a large framed photo of the total solar eclipse on Bonaire several years ago. The hosts were visiting the island for that event and took the photo through a large telescope. In the owners' section of the villa, a number of large oil paintings cover many of the walls painted by Pete who studied art.

The Master Suite is large enough for three people and even has a Jacuzzi bath tub in addition to the very large shower and two sinks. Travelers should know, however, that the Deep Blue View does not use a per person, double occupancy rate as most hotels do. So there is no need to double the price when two people share a room. In two of the four rooms three people can even stay for the same price as one or two. There is almost no difference in the weather during high and low seasons. Visitors can swim and dive year round since there is very little variation in land or water temperature. Water temperature is usually in the low 80s and land temperature usually around 85.
